We are currently seeking an exceptional individual to fill the role of Head of Global Transfer Pricing within eBay's Tax team. In this position, you will play a critical role in building the global transfer pricing team, set priorities for transfer pricing projects, manage global transfer pricing compliance and reporting, and provide invaluable support for our tax reporting and planning functions.

Our ideal candidate is an experienced leader in the field of transfer pricing known for their strategic expertise with proven experience of leading a transfer pricing group for a US multinational. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated and creative thinker, with outstanding communication skills. This position is based in Santa Clara, California . It reports to the Senior Director, Tax Operations and Strategy, and will closely collaborate with the global tax team.

Your Impact

The Head of Transfer Pricing will be responsible for managing the company's transfer pricing to ensure compliance with tax regulations and optimize the company global tax position. Some key responsibilities for this role include:

  • Manage a team and provide strategic leadership, including setting goals, priorities and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with the tax leadership and other cross-functional teams to establish a framework and key processes to support the company's overall business objectives.
  • Guide and align with leadership on global developments and changes in transfer pricing regulations, international tax laws, and adapt the company's strategies accordingly.
  • Create, implement, and communicate transfer pricing policies and strategies that align with the company's business operations and tax goals.
  • Identify and assess transfer pricing risks, manage transfer pricing audits, initiate and manage APAs, oversee responses on transfer pricing tax inquiries.
  • Ensure the company complies with transfer pricing regulations in various jurisdictions where it operates.
  • Manage and coordinate with external providers and internal stakeholders from finance, business and legal to ensure timely execution of deliverables and strategic alignment.
  • Ensure ongoing TP related tax support incl. M&A structuring and implementation in post-acquisition business integration.
  • Explore opportunities for automation of transfer pricing processes to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Provide guidance and training to internal teams on transfer pricing matters to enhance awareness and compliance across the organization.

Requirements:

This role demands a seasoned professional with the ability collaborate cross-functionally and to lead a team to manage complex transfer pricing and tax challenges.

A successful candidate should have:

  • a bachelor degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field.
  • a minimum of 10-15 years of hands-on experience in transfer pricing, including proven team leadership roles within multinational corporations or reputable consulting firms.
  • strong knowledge of international tax laws, accounting principles, and transfer pricing regulations across various jurisdictions. Proficiency in transfer pricing methodologies, financial analysis, alternative dispute resolution processes, use of APAs and MAP procedures, benchmarking, and financial modeling.
  • ability to provide clear and concise strategic recommendations to tax and non-tax stakeholders through excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • ability to lead, manage and mentor professionals
  • demonstrated experience in execution of operational transfer pricing and preparation of transfer pricing documentation in compliance with local and international regulations.
  • ability to evaluate and potentially disrupt current processes where improvements can be successfully implemented.

The applicable base pay range for this position is dependent on work location. The base pay range in the San Francisco Bay Area, New York City Metro and Seattle Metro is expected in the range below:

$205,600 - $274,500

The base pay range for all other U.S. work locations is expected in the range below:

$158,800 - $236,000

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
