Engineering Director – $130K-$220K – Austin – Defense Hardware

Platform have partnered with a growing defense hardware developer, making some of the nation's most innovative technology for the protection of the US military. They're on the lookout for an engineering director to come in and lead a small team of hugely talented mechanical & hardware engineers. The ideal candidate for this is someone with some leadership experience in hardware development, physics (applied), defense or optoelectronics.

Main Duties:

• Direct and mentor the engineering team (across multiple functions)
• Oversee product development and act as subject matter expert
• Define and track the engineering team's objectives
• Manage field testing operations
• Present for the company in technical discussions with customers etc.

Skills and Experience Required:

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, physics, materials science or optics
• 5+ years' experience leading smaller engineering teams
• Must still have sharp hands-on engineering skills
• Experience with optics ideal
• Experience with the defense industry ideal
• Experience with textiles would be a plus
• Must be a US person
