The Opportunity
We're looking for a Financial Systems Solution Architect-NetSuite to join our IT Business Applications team in Austin, TX. This is a critical role that blends deep NetSuite and other key financial systems capabilities with a strong understanding of accounting business processes. You'll be the primary technical go-to person for our Chief Accounting Officer's team, focusing on optimizing NetSuite, iValua, and other integrated systems for financial reporting, consolidation, and overall system performance. This role requires a balance of hands-on technical execution and strategic thinking, ensuring our financial systems are robust, scalable, and meet the evolving needs of the business.
What You'll Do
NetSuite Architecture & Optimization
- Serve as the primary technical architect and expert for our global NetSuite financials platform, including acting as a NetSuite Administrator as needed for configuration, maintenance, and optimization.
- Design, develop, and implement complex NetSuite solutions, including SuiteScripts (1.0 & 2.0), SuiteFlows, and custom modules to enhance system capabilities and automate processes.
- Lead technical architecture decisions for NetSuite customizations, ensuring scalability, performance, and maintainability.
- Configure and maintain NetSuite's chart of accounts structure, subsidiary hierarchy, and financial segments to support global reporting needs.
- Provide technical leadership for NetSuite upgrades, patches, and new module implementations.
- Architect and execute advanced NetSuite integrations with third-party systems (e.g., iValua, Avalara, Box, Tesorio) using RESTful APIs, SOAP web services, and SuiteTalk.
- Optimize NetSuite performance through strategic script deployment, efficient saved searches, SuiteAnlaytics Workbooks and other optimization techniques.
- Create and maintain complex role-based security models and access controls to ensure system integrity and compliance.
- Design and implement custom record types, custom fields, and custom forms to extend NetSuite's native capabilities.
- Develop comprehensive testing strategies for NetSuite updates, including automated testing where appropriate.
Financial Systems Administration & Support - Oversee NetSuite user access controls across all global users and ensure appropriate role-based permissions and security configurations.
- Serve as a primary administrator and technical expert for the iValua Procure-to-Pay (P2P) system, including configuration, user management, workflow design, and ongoing support.
- Provide technical support and guidance for other financial applications (e.g., Avalara, Box, Tesorio), troubleshooting issues and ensuring optimal functionality.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand and implement new features or enhancements within NetSuite, iValua, and other managed applications.
- Ensure data integrity and system stability across all financial systems, participating in system audits and compliance efforts.
Financial Systems Enablement & Support - Partner with the accounting team on the technical aspects of global financial statement preparation (Balance Sheet, Income Statement, and Cash Flow Statement) in accordance with US GAAP.
- Collaborate with the accounting team to optimize NetSuite for consolidation journal entries, supporting schedules, and financial calculations for monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting cycles.
- Provide technical expertise and system optimization to support the global month-end close and consolidation process within NetSuite.
- Guide the accounting team on NetSuite best practices for meeting reporting deadlines and deliverables for Executive Management and FP&A.
- Facilitate user requirements sessions to assess current-state accounting workflows across regions and translate them into NetSuite solutions.
- Build and enhance tailored reports and dashboards for business unit leaders and management teams using SuiteAnalytics, Saved Searches, and custom reporting tools.
- Develop and deliver technical training programs for NetSuite and iValua users to maximize system adoption and efficiency.
- Scale user enablement as the business grows and evolves with sustainable technical solutions.
What You'll Bring- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, MIS, or a related field. (Accounting/Finance background is a strong plus).
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with NetSuite financials, demonstrating advanced knowledge of NetSuite modules, reporting, and customization capabilities, including prior experience in a NetSuite Administrator capacity.
- Proven experience as an administrator or advanced user of enterprise-level procurement solutions, like iValua or Coupa, including configuration, user provisioning, workflow management, and support.
- Strong understanding of core accounting principles and financial processes to effectively support accounting teams.
- Demonstrated experience with key financial business processes, including but not limited to:
- Record-to-Report (R2R): Expertise in general ledger, financial consolidations, period close, financial reporting (e.g., Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Cash Flow), and intercompany accounting.
- Procure-to-Pay (P2P): Familiarity with purchasing, accounts payable, expense management, and vendor management workflows.
- Order-to-Cash (O2C): Understanding of order management, invoicing, accounts receivable, and revenue recognition.
- Tax Compliance: Experience with sales tax, VAT, and other relevant tax configurations within NetSuite (e.g., Avalara integration).
- Experience providing technical support for month-end close processes and financial reporting in a multi-entity/global environment.
- Experience with NetSuite's GL Impact, Revenue Recognition, and Multi-Book Accounting features.
- Knowledge of NetSuite's subsidiary structure and consolidation capabilities.
Preferred Qualifications - NetSuite Certified Administrator, NetSuite SuiteCloud Developer, or NetSuite Financial User certification.
- Experience with NetSuite's Advanced Financials, Advanced Revenue Management, and/or Fixed Assets modules.
- Proficiency with NetSuite's Account Reconciliation capabilities and GL Audit Numbering features.
- Knowledge of NetSuite's native financial reporting tools, including Financial Report Builder and Financial Statements.
- Familiarity with NetSuite's period close checklist features and intercompany transaction management.
- Experience with integration between NetSuite and other financial applications (e.g., iValua, Avalara, and Tesorio).
- Understanding of Audits and compliance requirements for financial systems.
