When you join our team as an Assistant Store Manager, you'll take on key store management responsibilities including assisting with supervising day-to-day store activities, ensuring overall store performance, managing schedules, and developing operational action plans while identifying training opportunities to develop and grow the team.

Position Details

• Position Type: Full-Time
• Average Hours: 38 hours per week
• Starting Wage: $27.00 per hour
• Wage Increase: Year 2 - $28.00 per hour

Duties And Responsibilities

• Assists the direct leader with developing and implementing action plans to improve operating results
• Establishes and communicates job responsibilities and performance expectations to direct reports
• Identifies training and development opportunities for direct reports
• Understands and models the core values of the organization to foster teamwork
• Monitors the competitive environment within the community and informs the direct leader of adjustments
• Provides product feedback and recommends items to carry or discontinue
• Participates in interviewing for store personnel
• Communicates major updates, milestones, developments, and concerns
• Ensures adherence to inventory procedures, product handling guidelines, and cash control policies
• Resolves operational customer concerns in the direct leader's absence
• Identifies and rectifies hazards and maintains store equipment
• Maintains store cleanliness and signage
• Assists with maintaining stock levels and product ordering
• Merchandises products neatly to maximize sales
• Ensures quality and freshness of products and accuracy of signage
• Assists with payroll, loss prevention, inventory counts, and training new employees
• Supervises day-to-day team operations and escalates issues as needed
• Ensures direct reports complete responsibilities to provide high levels of customer service
• Complies with company policies and protects document and data security
• Other duties as assigned

Physical Demands

• Stocking merchandise and lifting up to 45 pounds; placing products on shelves at various heights
• Regularly sit, stand, bend, reach, push, pull, lift, carry, and walk

Job Qualifications

• 18 years of age or older
• Ability to work independently and in a team
• Ability to provide prompt and courteous customer service
• Ability to develop rapport and open communication with direct reports
• Ability to interpret and apply company policies
• Ability to establish goals and guide performance
• Ability to evaluate and drive performance
• Understanding of budgeting, personnel costs, and expenses
• Ability to operate a cash register
• Ability to safely operate store equipment and perform cleaning duties
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong organization and multi-tasking abilities
• Meets state/local requirements for handling and selling alcoholic beverages

Education And Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
• Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in a retail environment
• Combination of education and experience providing equivalent knowledge
• Prior management experience preferred
