Classification: Exempt

Compensation Range: $55,000 - $70,000 + bonus

Location: Austin, TX

Work Type: Hybrid (5% in-office)

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm CT

Position Description:

The People Operations Specialist supports the full employee lifecycle across nine states, ensuring compliance, efficiency, and a positive employee experience. This role requires a hands-on HR professional with a strong background in recruiting, employee relations, HR compliance, and program development. The Specialist will partner closely with the Director of People Operations to design and implement initiatives that drive engagement, retention, and organizational effectiveness.


Responsibilities:


Recruiting & Talent Acquisition

  • Lead full-cycle recruiting (job postings, sourcing, screening, interviews, and offers).
  • Partner with hiring managers to identify talent needs and deliver an exceptional candidate experience.
  • Track recruiting metrics and continuously improve the hiring process.


Compensation & Analysis

  • Conduct compensation benchmarking and salary analysis to support equitable pay practices.
  • Partner with leadership on salary recommendations, adjustments, and pay structures.
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with state and federal wage and hour regulations.


Training & Development

  • Coordinate and deliver compliance and workplace training, including internal product training, sexual harassment, anti-bullying, and anti-discrimination.
  • Support onboarding to ensure a smooth and engaging new hire experience.
  • Assist in developing additional learning opportunities to support employee growth.


Employee Engagement & Events

  • Help plan and execute company and team-building events.
  • Contribute to recognition programs and initiatives that strengthen company culture.


Employee Relations

  • Serve as a trusted resource for employees and managers regarding HR policies and workplace matters.
  • Support conflict resolution in a fair, consistent, and values-driven manner.
  • Assist with leave management (FMLA, ADA, etc) and policy updates
  • Foster positive working relationships across departments and locations.


Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations across nine states.
  • Process and respond to employment verification requests in compliance with company policy and applicable regulations, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and timely completion.
  • Maintain HR documentation, reporting, and audit readiness.
  • Update and maintain the employee handbook to ensure compliance with changing federal, state, and local employment laws across nine states, and communicate updates clearly to employees.
  • Stay current with HR best practices and multi-state labor law requirements.


Required Education & Experience


  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 2–4 years of HR experience with at least 2 years in recruiting.
  • Experience with compensation analysis and market benchmarking.
  • Knowledge of multi-state HR compliance (experience supporting 5+ states preferred).
  • HRIS experience, preferably Paylocity.
  • Project/task management tool experience, Trello a plus.
  • Self-starter who thrives in a collaborative but independent role.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build trust at all levels.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • A “roll up your sleeves” attitude with a focus on execution and results.



This is a full-time position, and normal working hours are Monday – Friday, from 8:00 AM CT to 5:00 PM CT. There may be some nights, weekends, and overtime (for those eligible) when needed.


Home office set up is highly encouraged and the company will provide the necessary tools to ensure you have an effective and comfortable workspace.
