Talent Acquisition Specialist at Benchmark International
The Transaction Director leads and develops deal teams, manages a sizable portfolio of businesses for sale, and drives the firm's growth by successfully closing client transactions. This sales-focused role requires strong negotiation, empathy, client and personnel management, and a deep understanding of mergers and acquisitions.
Responsibilities begin with an engagement letter and prepared file from the Deal Origination Department and continue through every stage of the transaction—up to closing and collection of the success fee (excluding legal and accounting services).
Job Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of businesses for sale
- Serve as Benchmark International's primary relationship manager with business owners looking to exit or take on a strategic partner.
- Ensure responsiveness to client requirements including prompt callbacks, well-crafted correspondence, and compliance with the Terms of Engagement.
- Maintain a high-level understanding of each client, increasing detail as the process progresses.
- Oversee the team's progression from deal preparation through marketing and negotiations with acquirers.
- Lead response to client complaints and notices of termination.
- Close transactions
- Direct negotiations of larger clients toward letters of intent and, with counsel and accountants, drive the transaction to closing.
- Supervise Assistant Team Leads with negotiations of smaller clients toward closing.
- Discuss and ensure timely collection of Benchmark International's success fee.
- Manage and develop the team
- Ensure training and tools are provided for team success.
- Collaborate with Central Support Team to interview and hire replacements when necessary.
- Foster a respectful, professional, and nurturing environment.
- Distribute workload appropriately and assign challenging tasks to maintain engagement and retention.
- Contribute to corporate growth
- Provide frontline input to process improvements.
- Be available for discipline-specific projects, major transactions, and conference attendance as needed.
- Participate in brand recognition events regionally and in the financial community.
- Contribute to office-wide and company-wide training efforts.
Job Requirements
As a leader, you must be energetic with a positive, motivated attitude. You should possess excellent verbal and written communication, analytical, mathematical, negotiating, and interpersonal skills, as well as presentation abilities. The role is client-facing and requires the ability to convey difficult news and navigate sensitivities while maintaining pipeline momentum. Compensation is tied to closings, so you will lead the team and support their financial well-being.
- Five to ten years of experience as an M&A professional (e.g., broker, investment banker, accountant, attorney) with at least three years of personnel management experience and relevant sales/client management experience.
- Understand the sequence of events in a company sale process and be familiar with financial statements, EBITDA calculations, and add-backs.
- Knowledge of legal parameters in M&A transactions and various transaction structures and their merits/drawbacks for sellers.
- Ability to learn financial and market dynamics of new industries quickly.
- Strong verbal and written communication; ability to handle setbacks and difficult conversations; collaborative with clients' attorneys and accountants.
- Present a professional image aligned with Benchmark International's standards.
- Willingness to work extended hours as needed and travel for short-notice trips (rarely longer than three days).
- Ability to obtain a Texas real-estate sales associate license within 7 months of employment (for Texas office).
- No unfavorable history with FINRA, the SEC, or any state regulatory agency.
- On-site office work most days (not remote or hybrid).
- Professional dress attire is required.
This position will receive on-target earnings of $200K+.
