POSITION OVERVIEW
Under general supervision, the Parks Crew Leader serves as a hands-on leader assisting the Park Superintendent in the overall supervision, maintenance, and development of the parks, athletic fields, and facilities. This role involves direct field presence, team leadership, and ensuring all work reflects the high standards and values of Hutto, utilizing modern technology for communication and operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Supervises, trains, and assists Parks Maintenance Technicians in the preservation, sanitation, and landscaping of parks, grounds, open spaces, buildings, and facilities.
- Supervises, trains, and assists Parks Maintenance Technicians with preventive care and maintenance of mowers, trimmers, tractors, vehicles, and other Parks equipment.
- Assists in training employees in safety procedures and precautions on the use of light and heavy equipment.
- Ability to operate various pieces of equipment to include zero turn mower, power tools, tractor, backhoe, and front-end loaders.
- Required to work a variety of shifts including, but not limited to weekends, holidays and after hour emergency calls.
- Assists with the development and compliance with the Parks Standards Operating Procedures guide.
- Initiate requisitions and expenditures for purchase materials and supplies as approved.
- Provides guidance, training, and direction to ensure tasks are completed effectively and
- Makes recommendations regarding the selecting, hiring, training, evaluating, and disciplining of assigned employees
- Inventories all supplies including restroom and grounds maintenance supplies to ensure adequate supplies are available for use.
- Support City of Hutto special events by setting up, tearing down, and other miscellaneous duties.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES & EXPERIENCE- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Must possess a valid Texas Driver's License and be eligible for coverage under the City of Hutto vehicle insurance provider.
- Applicator License is preferred.
- Irrigation License is preferred.
- Certified Playground Safety Inspector within 1 year of hire.
