Reports To: President, Digital Products
Team Size: ~90 employees mostly in Austin, TX and Des Moines, IA

About the Role

Were looking for a Head of Human Resources to lead the people function at Austin Capital Bank and shape the next chapter of our growth. This role is both strategic and hands-on, perfect for an HR leader who wants to make a tangible impact on culture, talent, and organizational excellence.
Youll oversee all aspects of the employee experiencefrom recruiting and onboarding to development, compensation, and compliancewhile cultivating a workplace where every team member can prosper and deliver maximum value and impact.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Talent Acquisition & Onboarding
  • Lead full-cycle recruitment across departments, ensuring a seamless, inclusive, and values-driven hiring process.
  • Design and manage an onboarding experience that helps new team members feel connected, confident, and productive from day one.
  1. Compensation, Benefits & HR Operations
  • Develop and maintain competitive and equitable compensation structures and benefits programs.
  • Oversee payroll, HRIS, and benefits administration, ensuring compliance and operational excellence.
  • Conduct periodic compensation benchmarking to stay competitive in the fintech and banking sectors.
  1. Employee Development & Engagement
  • Build training, coaching, and career development programs that align with individual growth and company goals.
  • Support leaders in performance management, goal setting, and feedback best practices.
  • Champion initiatives that strengthen engagement, inclusion, and employee satisfaction.
  1. Employee Relations & Culture
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to employees and managers on HR-related issues, fostering trust and collaboration.
  • Promote a workplace culture rooted in transparency, respect, and accountability.
  • Manage employee relations and conflict resolution with fairness and professionalism.
  1. Compliance & Risk Management
  • Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and banking regulations.
  • Maintain and update company policies and employee handbooks.
  • Partner with legal and leadership teams to minimize risk while supporting innovation.
  1. Strategic Leadership
  • Collaborate with the executive team to align HR strategy with business objectives and growth plans.
  • Lead organizational design, workforce planning, and culture-building initiatives as the company scales.
  • Track and report on key HR metrics to inform leadership decisions and identify improvement opportunities.
Qualifications
  • 8+ years of progressive HR experience, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Proven success building and leading HR functions in high-growth environments (preferably fintech, banking, or tech).
  • Strong understanding of employment law, compensation design, and compliance in a regulated industry.
  • Excellent communication, emotional intelligence, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Experience with HRIS systems, performance management tools, and modern HR practices.
  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field (Masters or HR certification preferred).
