Microbiology Manager – Clinical Pathology Laboratory

Are you ready to lead a high-performing microbiology team in one of the nation's leading clinical laboratories?

Sonic Healthcare USA is seeking a Microbiology Manager for our largest laboratory, Clinical Pathology Laboratories (CPL), based in Austin, TX. In this role, you will provide operational leadership for the microbiology department, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance patient care and service quality.

What You'll Do

• Oversee daily microbiology operations, ensuring accurate and timely testing.
• Champion safety, quality, and compliance with CLIA, CAP, and other regulatory requirements.
• Develop and maintain laboratory policies, procedures, and quality control programs.
• Lead and mentor a team of skilled microbiology professionals, fostering a culture of excellence.
• Implement new technologies and collaborate on innovative projects to advance laboratory capabilities.

What We're Looking For

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Medical Laboratory Science, or related field (or equivalent per CLIA/CAP).
• Experience: Minimum 10 years in a clinical laboratory setting, with prior supervisory experience.
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.

Bonus Points

• ASCP certification.
• Previous experience in a clinical laboratory or service-oriented organization.
