Project Manager Transmission & Distribution

Location: Austin, TX

Pay Range: Based on experience



We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead and execute overhead transmission projects within the Transmission & Distribution (T&D) group. This role requires strong leadership, commercial awareness, and the ability to develop and maintain long-term client relationships. The Project Manager will oversee project delivery from concept through completion, ensuring schedule, budget, quality, and safety objectives are met. This position also includes business development responsibilities, including expanding existing client accounts and pursuing new opportunities.



Responsibilities

• Manage all phases of transmission projects, including siting, environmental and permitting activities, planning, engineering, procurement, construction coordination, project controls, and closeout.


• Serve as the primary point of contact for the client, ensuring clear communication and strong professional relationships.


• Drive project financial performance, including cost forecasting, budget control, risk management, and change management.


• Prepare proposals, support presentations, and participate in contract negotiations.


• Develop project schedules, define scope, and manage resource planning and staffing needs.


• Coordinate internal design teams and external subcontractors across multiple disciplines.


• Ensure all project deliverables meet internal QA/QC standards and client expectations.


• Provide regular status reporting regarding schedule, cost, safety, environmental compliance, and technical issues.


• Support growth of the T&D practice through business development initiatives, client engagement, and participation in strategic sales and marketing planning.


• Mentor and support the development of project team members.


• Travel to client offices and project sites as required.


• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Engineering or related field required.


• Minimum 7+ years of relevant experience, including 3+ years managing engineering projects in the Transmission & Distribution industry.


• Professional Engineering (PE) license preferred.


• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.


• Demonstrated experience leading the production of transmission line design and construction documents.


• Knowledge of NESC and relevant industry codes and standards.


• Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills; able to convey technical concepts clearly.


• Proven ability to develop client relationships and expand service offerings.


• Strong analytical, strategic, and problem-solving abilities.


• Valid drivers license and ability to travel as required.
