Summary:

The Education Coordinator supports the Director of Education Services in coordinating and executing TSHA's educational initiatives designed to promote Texas history learning among Texans of all ages. This position plays a central role in the development, delivery, and administration of student programming, educator resources, and distance education activities.

The Education Coordinator works collaboratively with Education staff, committee members, educators, students, partner institutions, and external vendors. Preferred candidates will have experience with educators teaching Texas studies, digital publishing, web development, and project management. An ability to effectively interact with diverse audiences, such as educators, tech staff, potential funders, and the general public is important.

Duties include:

Program Coordination & Implementation

  • Assist in planning, scheduling, and implementing activities, workshops, meetings, and contests for TSHA student programs and distance education initiatives.
  • Assist in day-to-day logistics for programs, ensuring consistent communication with students, teachers, volunteers, and partners.
  • Support the editorial process for The Texas Historian and Touchstone student research journals.
  • Provide support in the creation and distribution of instructional materials, digital content, and curriculum aligned with TSHA standards.

Digital Learning & Multimedia

  • Assist with development and execution of live webinars and online learning sessions.
  • Coordinate production of digital educational content, including videos, interactive lessons, and webinars.
  • Support educator outreach and online engagement strategies.

Outreach, Communications & Publications

  • Assist with recruitment of program participants, sponsors, and volunteers.
  • Coordinate production of promotional materials and program communications.
  • Draft reports, press releases, website updates, and internal documentation as needed.

Administrative & Supervisory Support

  • Assist the Director in supervising interns, part-time staff, and contracted personnel.
  • Help coordinate budgeting, grant-related reporting, and dispersal of funding for student and distance learning programs.
  • Represent TSHA at meetings, workshops, and committee functions as needed.

Other

  • Up to 20% travel is required.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Education Programs or Executive Director.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in History, History Education, Social Studies Education, or related field.
  • Experience teaching, advising, or supporting students in grades 4–12 OR supporting academic enrichment programs.
  • Strong writing, editorial, interpersonal, and public-speaking skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Proficiency with Google Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Cloud, and basic web/digital tools.
  • Professional demeanor and ability to represent TSHA in public settings.
  • Ability to occasionally lift/move up to 40 pounds.
  • Valid Class C Driver's License.
  • Resident of Texas.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Texas Educator Certification.
  • Experience with Texas History Day or National History Day.
  • Experience in program development, student events, or digital learning.
  • Experience creating or managing online educational content or hosting webinars.

Compensation:

Benefits include medical, dental, 401(k), vacation and sick leave.

Salary is $60,000 to $65,000 depending on experience.

Work Hours:

This is a full-time, exempt position; hours are between 8:00 AM-5:00 PM, Monday through Friday with some weekend duty and travel.
