Inventory Control Clerk

Description:

As a CPI Inventory Control Clerk, you will perform physical and administrative inventory control functions to maintain a high level of inventory accuracy and integrity. You will also be responsible for managing and tracking components, materials, and finished goods while ensuring accurate counts, proper storage, and efficient material flow through warehouse management systems.

As a CPI Inventory Control Clerk, you will occupy a key role in working with and for a company that builds the physical infrastructure that powers, protects and secures the world's digital technology. Day to day you will perform physical and administrative tasks associated with maintaining high-level inventory accuracy and integrity. Manage and track stock of components, materials, and finished products. Ensure accurate counts, proper storage, and efficient material flow through warehouse management systems.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Verifies record computations against physical count of inventory and adjusts errors in computation or count or investigates and reports reasons for discrepancies.
  • Counts material and posts totals to inventory property records.
  • Performs regular cycle counts, physical inventories, receipt audits, and reconciliations.
  • Monitors and controls inventory integrity.
  • Maintains product identification and location program.
  • Research inventory discrepancies and ability to reconcile them.
  • Receives, unpacks, and inspects incoming shipments for accuracy, quality, and potential damage.
  • Organizes and stores materials in designated warehouse locations using proper labeling systems.
  • Implements FIFO (First-In, First-Out) rotation methods to prevent obsolescence.
  • Maintains clean, organized storage areas that maximize space efficiency and ensure safe access.
  • Assists with loading/unloading trucks and material handling.
  • Picks, stages, and delivers stock to production lines, assembly areas, or shipping departments.
  • Prepares kits and component sets for manufacturing work orders.
  • Coordinates with production teams to ensure timely material availability.
  • Communicates stock shortages, overages, and potential issues.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Assists with annual physical inventory counts.
  • Cross trains in other warehouse functions to provide backup coverage.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

Technical Competencies:
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Minimum 2-3 years of inventory control or warehouse experience required
  • Experience in manufacturing environment preferred
  • Proficiency with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and inventory software required
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Operate forklift and other material handling equipment daily
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs. regularly
  • Frequent bending, stooping and reaching
  • Stand and walk for extended periods
  • Fast-paced environment requiring multitasking and flexibility
