Human Resources Generalist

Job Summary:

The Human Resources Generalist acts as the customer-facing partner to provide expertise and direct support in the areas of employee relations, performance management, recruiting and selection, compensation/benefits administration, and employee training/development.

Essential JOB Functions:

  • Perform basic functions to include, but not limited to, employee relations, management counseling, employment verifications, leave of absence processing, new hire and exit processes, etc.
  • Responsible for document retention of HR policies/forms and employee personnel records.
  • Maintain awareness and knowledge of HR related laws and practices, as well as internal policies/procedures, and provide suitable interpretation to management and employees.
  • Ensure quick resolution and proper documentation of employee concerns and performance management issues, including evaluating performance documentation up to employment termination by utilizing policy, HR tools, labor regulations, and HR methodologies.
  • Develop and implement various areas of HR to include records and process management:
    • Recruiting, Selection and Hiring and termination of employees.
    • Salary administration.
    • Job description preparation.
    • Job performance evaluations as well as necessary performance improvement processes.
    • Employee relations.
    • Leave Administration.
    • Worker's Compensation Program.
    • Benefits Annual Enrollment.
  • Support rollout of new programs, policies, and initiatives.
  • Cultivate a culture of responsiveness, innovation, diversity, and excellence.
  • Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources management, business management, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of comprehensive human resources experience.
  • Experience in planning, organizing, developing, implementing, coordinating, and directing, and administering human resources policies, programs, and practices.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain partnerships and solid working relationships with key stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Understanding HR principles, business processes, and employment laws, including EEOC, FLSA, FMLA, ADA, HIPAA, and Workers' Compensation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to operate in fast-paced, dynamic environment, handle adversity and frequent change, and balance workload with multiple and competing priorities.
  • Customer-service focus, with demonstrated experience dealing successfully with complex issues.
  • Computer literate with excellent knowledge of Microsoft Windows (Word Perfect, Microsoft Word, Excel).
  • Fully Bilingual written and verbal (English/Spanish) preferred.
  • PHR/SHRM certification preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

General office environment with moderate noise. This position is mostly sedentary, involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. A busy environment with many unscheduled interruptions. Frequent computer for extended periods of time. Public contact position requiring appropriate business apparel. While performing the responsibilities of this job, the employee must be able to access all components of workstation and other office equipment. Frequent bending and twisting. Must be able to lift to 10 pounds.
