Overview

Primary Purpose:

To facilitate the efficient operation of student attendance reporting.

Education/Certification

Education/Certification:

High School diploma or GED; successfully pass MISD literacy test

Special Knowledge/Skills
  • Computer proficiency
  • Proficient knowledge MS Word software, and file maintenance
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles skills
  • Effective organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to use personal computer and software to develop spreadsheets, databases, and word documents
  • Professional telephone demeanor
Minimum Experience

Minimum Experience:

One to three years of secretarial experience, preferably in public education environment

Essential Job Functions
  • Assist with registering incoming students.
  • Report attendance information to the Administration office.
  • Verify student attendance zones.
  • Assist with entering new students in computer system, transfer students from school to school.
  • Maintain original building roll.
  • Assist with coding of students such as ESL, Chapter, Gifted and Talented, and Special Education when proper forms are submitted and authorization delegated.
  • Maintain daily attendance records, enter daily absences, print daily absences, resolve daily absences and enter unexcused absences and verify information.
  • Encourage students to bring written validation for excused absence within a three-day period.
  • Compile weekly, six-week, and semester reports of school attendance and verify information.
  • Print students information (i.e., homeroom lists, class rolls, special populations, etc.) for school personnel when requested.
  • Assist students, teachers and parents as needed.
  • Exercise good telephone etiquette.
  • Be responsible for the integrity of data.
  • Cooperate fully with colleagues in shared responsibilities.
  • Show tolerance for peer differences and promote harmony.
  • Share experiences, ideas and knowledge with peers.
  • Seek advice and counsel when needed.
  • Report to work in a timely manner according to assigned schedule.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or other administrator that are consistent with the general requirements and qualifications for the position.
