Job Summary:
The Community UtilityAssociate performs a variety of food service functions in maintaining clean andsanitary conditions of Community food services, facilities, and equipment.He/she is responsible for washing dishes, washing pots and pans , general and equipmentcleaning, storage and rotation of food and supplies as well as the removal of all garbage; leaving machinery empty, clean, and dry;and keeping floors clean after each meal.
Responsibilities:
Follows the posted work schedule andarrives on time and in appropriate work attire
Responsible for the proper washing ofchina, flatware, glassware, and other kitchen equipment including machine rinsepressure and water temperature
Responsible for maintaining thekitchen and other assigned areas in a sanitary condition
Establishes and maintainsconstructive working relationships with other kitchen personnel and residents
Must be familiar with food-handlingprocedures and regulations
Must know how to operate kitchenappliances such as garbage disposal, microwave, coffee maker, and ice machine
May be required to help with foodpreparation, inventory, and maintenance as well as food deliveries and stockingshelves
Follow all emergency procedures
Understands all safety practices andprocedures
Reports on-the-job injuries to theCommunity Cook and/or Food & Beverage Director before the end of the workshift on the day the injury occurs
Communicates effectively with Food& Beverage Director and other staff
Advises Food & Beverage Directorof any changes in physical or mental health of a resident immediately
Maintains an acceptable attendance record, notifies Food & Beverage Director if he/she expects to be late or unable to work in accordance with personnel policies, and follows work schedule
Qualifications:
HighSchool diploma preferred/ GED accepted
Some kitchen experience is desirable
Basic knife skills required
Abilityto handle multiple priorities
Musthave organizational and time management skills
Demonstrates good judgment, problem solving and decision-making skills
Physically able to bend and reach
Physically able to push and pull andlift up to 40-50 pounds if necessary
Physically able to standfor extended periods of time
Miscellaneous
May be required to work weekends and holidays as assigned
May be required to work on shifts other than the one for which hired
May be required to work extended hours (up to 16 hours per day)
May be subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including HIV, AIDS, and Hepatitis B and C viruses
Could be subject to hostile and emotionally upset Residents due to mental status
Must be in good physical and emotional health and free of communicable diseases
Background, criminal, and drug tests may be required
May be asked to submit to random drug test during employment
May have their picture taken and image used in social media or community advertising
May be video recorded from devices installed by families in residents' apartments
