Senior Litigation Paralegal

Description:

A well-established and highly regarded Austin law firm in downtown Austin is seeking a Senior litigation paralegal with at least 7 years of complex litigation experience and experience as the lead paralegal at civil trials.


Areas of responsibility include:

• Manageall aspects of litigation files, including document collection, organization, and maintenance throughout the case lifecycle.

• Coordinate process service, including citations & subpoenas.

• Assist attorneys with drafting, proofreading, and cite-checking legal documents such as motions, briefs, witness lists, exhibit lists, trial binders, and pre-trial statements. Draft basic pleadings and notices.

• SOS & TLO research.

• Prepare for and attend hearings.

• Coordinate and manage discovery, including drafting discovery requests/responses, reviewing production, and creating privilege logs.

• Oversee e-discovery processes, including liaising with vendors, maintaining databases, and performing document review using litigation support platforms (e.g. Relativity).

• Prepare trial notebooks, exhibit binders, witness files, and case chronologies.

• Serve as a point of contact for clients, experts, investigators, and third parties.

• Schedule and coordinate depositions, mediations, arbitrations, and client meetings.

• Prepare expert witness materials, engagement letters, and document sets.


Qualifications and competencies:

• 7–10+ years of litigation paralegal experience, with experience as the lead paralegal at trial.

• Extensive experience preparing for and assisting at trials and arbitrations.

• Advanced knowledge of civil procedure, court rules, and filing procedures (state and federal).

• Proficiency with e-discovery databases.

•Ability to travel for trial and extended trial-site assignments.

• Bachelor's degree or Paralegal Certificate from an ABA-approved program.

• Tech-Savvy: Comfortable with e-discovery, databases, and courtroom technology.
